Robert Bloemkolk Canned Heat's 'Going up the country' was based on Henry Thomas 1927 Bull Doze Blues, up to the quite magical cane flute you hear on Henry's great sounding Vocalion recording. It's name your price. Everybody should hear Henry Thomas. Favorite track: Bull Doze Blues.
The Execrable Bede

The Execrable Bede Twelve tracks with amazing audio quality, considering they were all recorded between 1927 and 1929 by Henry Thomas, a.k.a. "Ragtime Texas", who was born in Big Sandy, Upshur County, Texas in 1874, and whose date (ca. 1930) and place of death remain unknown. One of Thomas' instruments was a pan-pipe, made of quills of differing lengths, which gives much of his work a very unique quality. Favorite track: Old Country Stomp.
